The Phillies magic number to win the National League East is 15 games. There are 22 games left in the regular
season and the Phillies are eight games up on both the Mets and Braves.
The Phillies are in Miami for three more games against the last-place Marlins and while the Fish always play the Phils tough, I think the Phillies need to give Bryce Harper some time off to heal and get ready for the last three weeks of the season.
Harper has been playing in pain with his right elbow and wrist for weeks. Harper has played 15 games in a row and 42 of 43 games since the All-Star break. With Kyle Schwarber is on fire, the Phillies offense can get by without their Superstar First Baseman for a day.
In his last seven games, Schwarber has a .333 Batting Average with Four Home Runs and seven RBI. He is the first Phillies player to hit at least 30 home runs in each of his first three seasons with the Phillies. Friday night the Phillies send Zack Wheeler to the hill and will look for his 14th win of the season.
The Eagles open up their regular season Friday night in Brazil against the Green Bay Packers. The Birds welcome elite running back Saquon Barkley to their high-powered offense. In six seasons in the NFL, Barkely rushed for 5211 yards and looks to carry a heavy workload. QB Jalen Hurts now has a plethora of options in his offensive arsenal.
We will be covering it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.
On Saturday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw and my twin brother Bobby Schweim will join me in the studio. We will recap the Eagles game one results against the Packers and get the “Keys to the Game” with Fox 29 News Sports Anchor Scott Grayson brought to you by Blitz’s market of Ocean City. In Hour Two, we will hear from Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda brought to you by Galloway Pool Service. Finally we will talk with South Jersey Lifeguard historian Tom McCann. Tom has a new book out called “The Guards” and we will get some insights about the history of South Jersey Lifeguards.
On Sunday’s Show, my Locker Room Youth Movement is back in the studio: Producer Danny Ryan and "The Intern” Andrew Leeds join me to talk Phillies and Eagles. Every Sunday during the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s Market of Ocean City.
