The Philadelphia Phillies were swept out of San Francisco this week and they just can’t seem to beat their former Manager Gabe Kapler. The Phillies now have an 0-6 record this season against NL West traditional contenders the Dodgers and the Giants. Unexpected bad defense and a lack of timely hitting with runners in scoring position plus a starting pitching staff that hasn’t hit its stride yet have all been a part of the 2023 season which has the Phillies' overall record at 20-23. The only "good news" for the Phillies is they are coming home to Citizens Bank Park where they have 55 percent of their wins this season (11). In case you were wondering, the 2022 Phillies' record through the first 43 games of the season was also EXACTLY 20-23.

The Philadelphia 76ers were bounced out of the second round of the NBA playoffs for the fifth time during the Embiid era and the organization has not reached the Conference Finals since the 2001 season with another NBA MVP Award Winner, Allen version. Joel Embiid, the MVP of this year's NBA regular season, has underperformed when it counts; in Games 6 and 7 when the 76ers could have eliminated the Boston Celtics, Embiid averaged 20.5 Points Per Game (that is 13 points less than what he averaged during the regular season) along with shooting 37.8 Percent Field Goal Shoot (during the regular season, Embiid shot 54.8 Percent shooting). On Wednesday, the Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey met with the media to discuss the direction the franchise is heading in after another disappointment for the fans AND the team will be looking for a new head coach who will hopefully be a part of the solution to get this team past the second round.
