The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will be broadcasting the 78th Annual Margate Memorial Lifeguard Races on Friday night. From 6-8 pm on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey, we will be broadcasting live from the beach in Margate.
This race has been an annual competition since 1946 and is the last big race before the South Jersey Lifeguard Championships. Beach Patrols from Brigantine to Cape May Point will compete for bragging rights and the Margate Memorial Trophy. The Margate Memorials start at 6:30 pm right in front of Lucy the Elephant and you can hear all the action on 973 ESPN South Jersey.
The Phillies need to get out of town and turn the page from July to August. The slumping Phillies were swept by the New York Yankees on Wednesday, lost their fourth straight series, and ended the month of July with a 10-14 record.
The Phillies start their west coast trip in Seattle against for a three game series against the Mariners Friday night. Eagles Training Camp continues as they hosted their only public practice for fans at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday Night. Almost 50,000 fans showed up just to watch the Birds practice, that’s right practice!
Eagles fans can not wait for the team to return to the field of play. The first preseason game is next Friday night in Baltimore with a 730 pm kickoff time scheduled against the Ravens. Eagles Legendary Radio Announcer Merrill Reese is being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend in Canton Ohio. Billy Werndl, who has worked alongside Merrill Reese for 51 years as his spotter on the Eagles radio broadcasts, will be our first guest and call-in from Canton where he is attending Merrill Reese’s induction.
In Hour Two, we will recap our Live broadcast of the Margate Memorial Lifeguard races with the Beach Patrol Report brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association. This week we will talk with the Director of the Cape May Point Women's Lifeguard Challenge Kristen Moorby. Moorby is a member of the Cape May Point Beach Patrol who also works for NBC Sports, and she will tell us about the event that took place on Wednesday night.
