Eagles Begin Training Camp As Summer Rolls On In South Jersey

The Philadelphia Eagles began their 2024 campaign on Wednesday kicking off Training Camp in South Philly.  The Birds look to improve on both sides of the ball by hiring new offensive and defensive coordinators: Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio respectively.

The Eagles defense gave up 4,296 yards passing last year, the second most in the NFL.  Hopefully their New-look secondary along with the additions at Linebacker can be the upgrades the Eagles need to help Vic Fangio improve on last year's fiasco.

Offensively with the addition of Running Back Saquon Barkley and the innovation of new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Quarterback Jalen Hurts will hopefully get back to his MVP-level of play he had in 2022.  We will talk about the state of the Eagles this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.

The Phillies are returning from a disappointing road trip going 2-4.  Despite decent starting pitching, it was the Phillies bullpen inconsistency, sloppy defense, and an offense averaging 3.8 Runs per game that doomed the Phillies.  Will the Phillies acquiring Austin Hays from the Baltimore Orioles help the team this weekend?

The Phillies return to Citizens Bank Park where they are 37-16 this season and have the best home field advantage in Baseball.  The Cleveland Guardians come to town in first place in the American League Central with a 61-41 record.  Tonight Christopher Sanchez (2.97 ERA) gets the ball for the Phillies against former Phillies Pitching Prospect Ben Lively (3.57 ERA).  We hope returning home after 12 days is the solution to the Phillies recent struggles.

The Beach Patrol Lifeguard races continue tonight in Wildwood with the Dutch- Hoffman Memorial Lifeguard races.  This is the first of the “Big Three” races leading up to the South Jersey Lifeguard Championships on Friday, August 9th in Brigantine.  The Dutch- Hoffman Memorial Lifeguard races start Tonight at the Lincoln Avenue Beach and The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will cover it all this weekend!

On Saturday’s show, Mr. Everything Josh Hening comes off the bench to Produce the show and former Kansas City Chiefs Wide Reciever Dave Klemic joins me in the studio.  We will talk about the Eagles and the start of training camp with our first guest, former Eagles wide receiver Freddie Mitchell!  Fred-X will talk about his time with the Birds, this year's team and the 2024 NFL season.

In Hour Two, we will recap the Phillies Friday Night game against the Guardians.  Then it’s the Beach Patrol Report brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association.  We will have all the results and interviews with the competitors and winners of the Dutch- Hoffman Memorial Lifeguard races

On Sunday’s show, Producer Nick Earnshaw and Mike Carlin join me in the studio.  Every Sunday throughout the baseball season we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s Market in Ocean City.  Tommy talks Phillies week in review and also previews Sunday’s game.  In Hour Two, we will concentrate on the latest with our Philadelphia Eagles.

All that and more, this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 97.3 ESPN radio.
